R-PE is supplied in 100 mM Potassium Phosphate buffer, pH7.0 with 60% Saturated (NH4)2SO4, 1 mM EDTA and 1 mM Sodium Azide.
Description
Phycoerythrin is a red protein-pigment complex from the light-harvesting phycobiliprotein family, present in red algae and cryptophytes, accessory to the main chlorophyll pigments responsible for photosynthesis, R-PE is made up of (αβ)6γ subunit structure.
Reconstitution
Phycobiliprotein solution: Dialyze R-Phycoerythrin into 50mM sodium borate, 300mM NaCl, pH 8.5 and adjust protein concentration to 1mg/mL. Note: Protein is supplied in an ammonium sulfate suspension; extensive dialysis is necessary to remove extraneous ammonium ion, which will quench the cross-linking reaction
Important Notes
To get an accurate weight of R-PE, we recommend use its extinction coefficient as measurement (i.e. [R-PE]=0.122 x A565, where [RPE] is in mg/ml and A565 is the absorbance at 565 nm, as long as A565 is in the range of 0.3 to 0.8).
Storage
Store R-PE in dark at 2~8oC. Do not freeze. For research or further manufacturing use only.
